May 2019 is a huge result season. Not only we will know which political party will rule the world’s biggest democracy for the next 5 years, we will also know about the results of crores of students waiting to bloom post their 10th and 12th standard. Well choosing a career now days is as difficult as choosing which political party to vote for. To make it a bit more interesting, we have tried to relate them with each other.
If Political parties were career choices then which one would they have been?
1. Indian National Congress (INC) – Engineering
The Grand Old Party of India. They have ruled independent India for over 50 years but lately their value has depreciated massively. In the last elections they won their lowest seat tally ever which was just 44 seats. Also the party is accused of major corruption scams and huge amounts of black money drain to countries abroad. Similarly Engineering has been in existence since a long time and had a lot of value but currently the overall value has diminished. A lot of engineers don’t even find basic jobs and have to shift to allied fields. Also the good engineers are known to take up a career in finance or consultancy later or shift abroad for work owing to a massive brain drain to countries abroad.
2. Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) – Chartered Accountancy
Over the last 40 years BJP as a party has grown tremendously. Its supporter and voter base has increased exponentially. Also, just being from the family doesn’t help. You need to work very hard and find your way to the top. But many say that 2014 was a peak and the party has diminished comparatively to that. Irrespective of all of that, currently it is a party that commands a lot of votes and respect. Similarly CA has flourished over the past 40 years. It is a degree that commands extreme respect but over the past 4-5 years due to various reasons, the growth rate has slowed down and we can see many youngsters moving away from it.
3. Communist Party of India (CPI) - ICWA
The Left party in India has ruled states like Tripura and West Bengal for years. They have a very different ideology which had many followers over years but the party is crumbling now. The only state where it has a decent presence is Kerala which also should be over in a week as per polls. It’s almost at the verge of nonexistence. Similarly, ICWA used to be a coveted qualification which has lost all the steam now to an extent that it is almost non-existent.
4. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) – Actuaries
AAP became a revelation in the early 2010’s. They seemed to be a party with a difference which would be strong and bold enough to challenge the 2 big parties. They earned a lot of followers but very soon people came to know that what they expected and what the party delivered was very different. It was all a big talk. Most of them were DISAPPOINTED. This is very similar to the pay structure in Actuaries. When students join they expect a much better pay structure but later are DISAPPOINTED.
5. Trinamool Congress(TMC) – ACCA
The people who control TMC are very similar to the people who sell ACCA in India. To maintain their numbers, they will go till any extent possible irrespective of the actions being unethical or illegal. Also one aims to dethrone the current PM to be the ultimate ruler, the other also aims to dethrone the market leader (CA) and take its place.
6. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) – Private Business Management and Designing Degrees
Neither of them have a proper roadmap or vision. The followers/students of both have been struggling due to their non-acceptance in the market. The owners of both are completely fine with it as their personal networth and lockers are just increasing day by day.
7. ShivSena + SP + RJD + DMK + TDP + PDI + NC – Doctor
A Doctor wants his son to become a doctor. A doctor’s son wants his daughter to be a doctor. And this keeps on continuing. They want to make the noble profession of serving the people their family affair and ensure that their lineage also serves the people. Similarly the parties mentioned above are interested in making their profession into a family business but sadly a lot of them many times forget that they have to serve the people too. By the way no points for guessing which party we are missing in the above list.
8. NOTA – Arts
When you do not want to vote for Congress or BJP or any other regional party, what do you do? You press the NOTA button. Similarly when you do not want to take up Science or Commerce, you end up choosing Arts.
Please note that in all the above examples we have just discussed some aspects of the careers and parties. In actual they may be much better or much worse than what we have discussed here. All the students reading this understand how important a decision is your career selection. Please remember that selection of our representative is an equally important matter. So as soon as you are eligible to vote, ensure that you go out and vote.
